Great Friendly Fire Base Locations

I’ve found a few great base locations. The thing about a great location is not that everyone who attacks you will not be able to defeat your base. It’s that fewer people will attack your base. Any base can be defeated.

Here’s a list of some of the best bases I’ve found (in no particular order). I found latitude and longitude on Google Earth, and I’m sure there are many such ways to find the coordinates online.

Here are the advantages to these bases.
Base #1: There is only one spawn point. The resources are protected. The 2:30 attack time is also very good.

Base #2: The winding roads make it so difficult to attack. Your units take forever to get down roads like that.

Base #3: Again, the winding roads, and the spawn points are quite a ways from the base.

Base #4: Only two spawn points.

Base #5: Only one spawn point, and the 2:30 attack time is really good.

Base #6: The spawn points are a long way from the entrance to the base.

Base #7: Only one spawn point.

The only problem with these bases, is that you won’t be able to fight for your hometown or country. Who wants their scores to be counted for the Dubai? If that’s a big problem for you,  maybe this post will help you find a good base in your hometown.

Friendly Fire Tips and Strategies

I may not be the best Friendly Fire player out there, but I’m up to over 3000 medals and level 9. There are some cool tricks that I’ve seen from watching other players attack my base and things I’ve noticed while playing. Here are a few tips for you. I wish I could have read this when I first started playing.

Choosing Your Base

If you haven’t gotten too far into the game it may be worth it to start over and pick a new base. The most important thing you need for your base is that the roads are curved–not straight. My first base is on a long, straight road, and when someone sends in an EMP, it can take several units and guns out of commission. If the roads are curved the EMP is much more limited in its effectiveness.

I’d say be ready to start multiple accounts and keep trying to place a good base, because the game can automatically add roads making a good location a bad location. A couple of the top players have bases where there is only one way in, because they put it in a place where a road curves into a dead end among other roads. I was able to find a location like that on one of my later attempts.

Miscellaneous Strategies:

1. Place your Howitzer(s) either behind other buildings or mini-guns. The enemy tanks and scouts can’t shoot over them, but artillery can.
2. You can place an artillery or tank and then tell it to turn around and back away from the entry point if there is a road there. This will allow it to get out of range of the guns. This is especially useful for artillery.
3. It may be advantageous to spread out the buildings on your base so that it will just take the enemy a longer time to reach all the buildings.
4. Keep researching upgrades or you will find it increasingly difficult to defeat other bases.
5. If you’re having a tough time, you can attack players with lower level bases via the scoreboard to recoup some medals.

What to Do With Your Gems

The first thing you ought to do is buy the second construction tank. Save up more and buy the third construction tank. Otherwise, the gems are useless, unless you just want to buy a bunch so you don’t have to wait for your stuff to build.

Confusing Things About the Game

Sometimes it seems as though you’re best off having fewer medals. You’ll be able to attack weaker players on the scoreboard, and other players will get less medals off you when you win. Other than the competition of having the most medals, there is no real advantage to having more medals. The advantage comes in getting more oil and metal from your enemies. I’ve had players attack me just for the resources and ignore my base. That’s not really a bad strategy.

It kind of sucks to have to wait several days for your base to upgrade, and a couple days to upgrade other items on your base. I guess they’re trying to sell gems.

Interesting Videos

Here is a couple interesting videos. The guy behind the camera in the first video is exercising his 1st amendment right to freedom of the press. And the security guard, while polite, is totally crazy, making things up. The policeman that shows up at least knows that the photographer is within his rights, but still asks for his ID. This video is in Florida, and I don’t know the law there, but in my state, you don’t have to show your ID to the police, unless they suspect you of breaking the law.

Here’s another interesting video. The guys that do this are trying to defy the border patrol checkpoint. I certainly see their point. Why do we have to have checkpoints? It is unconstitutional, regardless of what a judge may or may not have said. It would be easier for them to say, “Yes, I’m an American citizen.” Do they have a need to not answer the question? No. Does the guy in the 1st video need to video tape? No. But we need people to stand for our rights. Rights that are not utilized will be lost.

Youtube Review

Here are some interesting Youtube channels:

Knicks Tickets

Broncos Tickets

Apologetics Channel

Rent Textbooks Online

Omaha Electrician

Sacramento Apartments

Youtube channels are simply Youtube accounts where people upload videos. You can set up playslists and comment on other videos. I enjoy commenting on people’s videos, and having conversations with people. There are all types of people that you may never run into in real life. There are atheists, racists, people who can’t write worth a darn, and everything in between.

And it is amazing how many views some of the videos have. Some simple video of a baby laughing will have millions of views. The first video with a billion views recently occurred (it’s really stupid, and not in English). It’s a music video, and music seems to be big on Youtube. Though the type of music I like (classic country) isn’t nearly as popular as the current hits. Songs I like will still have 5 million views or so, but that’s nothing compared to a billion–about 0.5%.

I guess if you haven’t had any experience with Youtube by now, you’ve probably been living under a rock, but I enjoy it. You can see videos on almost any topic, and waste a lot of time on that site.

Tax Lien Tutor Review

My friend signed me up for a real estate seminar, and I knew it would be nothing but a sales pitch, but we figured we might glean a few tips. We mostly buy houses at the foreclosure sales, but are always up for learning something new.

Supposedly, the seminar had something to do with Dean Graziosi, but I’m not sure that it had anything to do with him, except that he might have licensed the use of his name. I’m not sure. One of the speakers showed a picture of him with Dean Graziosi.

The main thing for sale seemed like a pretty standard beginning real estate investor’s course over a weekend in Denver. I think the price was $1500 or maybe more. I don’t remember. The thing that was different about it was that if you bought a house within a certain period after the class, they would refund your money. That got my attention, as I’m sure I could buy a house within a couple weeks of the class, but I figured it was too basic a course to spend my time on.

After that, the class took a break, and at least half the attendees left, and they introduced a tax lien course. The deal with that was that it was $1000 (if I remember right) but they would refund your money if you bought six tax liens within a few weeks of that day. I went for it.

One of the things that convinced me was that they will go out and buy tax liens in bulk, for a discount, and sell them to the students, possibly also at a discount. Most of the liens could be immediately foreclosed, and you could own the property. That sounded very cool, and I was hoping I could buy a house for a few hundred dollars. Even if it was across the country, I could buy it for pennies on the dollar and sell it for nickels on the dollar.

As it turns out, I researched quite a few of their offerings. Many of them were in Syracuse, NY, and they could be immediately foreclosed. In fact they could have been foreclosed years ago. And I’m certainly not an expert on Syracuse real estate, living half a country away, but I found some houses that were listed on the MLS for $5000 to $15,000. With all the back taxes you’d have to pay, and fees you’d have to pay, you’d have $20,000 in the tax lien houses. Maybe some of them were worth it, but how would I know unless I somehow convinced a realtor to go look at them, or went out there myself. I certainly didn’t want to overpay for a house 2000 miles away.

I found other similar deals among the tax liens they had for sale. I researched some deals in Kentucky, and it was much the same type of thing.

So, I had to figure out how to buy 6 tax liens on my own, and pretty quick, so that I could get my money back. One of the tips during the seminar was that many counties had unsold tax liens, and would sell them. I decided to go that route. I bought 6 liens from the neighboring county. I had to wait 6 months or so to wait for the time to come when I could apply for the deed. That’s what I’ve done, and now they county says they won’t begin that process for a few months, because they’re behind schedule. I’m not too happy about that, but that has nothing to do with Tax Lien Tutor.

As far as the course materials, it was almost all pretty basic investing information. Not even that much information about tax liens. The tip that I ended up using to find the tax liens I bought wasn’t in the course material–just a free tip in the seminar. But, I was also able to call and ask questions of the people at Tax Lien Tutor. They were pretty helpful.

I guess the big question is whether I got my money refunded. I did. I painstakingly made certain all the documentation they required was in the package I sent them, and I only made it a couple days before the deadline. I called and they said they received everything they needed. I called a couple weeks later to ask where my refund was, and they said it would be sent in a few weeks.

I’m not sure why it took them so long, but I did receive my money.

Would I recommend Tax Lien Tutor? I think the most important thing is that they did keep their promise and returned the money. I have a chance to end up with 5 extremely cheap houses that I wouldn’t have without them (one of the liens I purchased was paid off). I’m earning 10% on all the money I have invested, so I hope those 5 don’t pay off, but even if they do, it would be a very successful investment. The houses are junkers, but I can certainly make money on them, because I’m going to have less than $3000 in them all told.

So I have mixed emotions about it. The materials weren’t that great, but the results have been great. Could I have done it without them? I think I did for the most part, but on the other hand, I wouldn’t have done it without them.

So, the most important thing is that they kept their word on the money. Their website is taxlientutor.com.

E-470 Review

We were headed to Denver International Airport, from south of Denver, and we were running a little late. I had always taken I-225 to get to the airport, and it seems like there’s always a traffic jam. I decided we had to take E-470 regardless of the price, because we had to make it to the airport in a hurry.

It turned out to be awesome. There’s hardly any traffic on the road, and it’s almost a direct route to the airport. We made our flight on time.

How they bill you is by photographing your license plate and sending you a bill in the mail. I expected to get a $10 bill in the mail, but it was $3.15.

I would highly recommend taking E-470, and I will probably be taking it both ways regardless of whether I’m in a hurry to get to the airport or not.

It’s also a relatively scenic road, especially compared with I-225, and goes through a part of town I’ve never been in before.

I’ve never taken the road north of the airport, but probably, it would be worth it to take it the whole way, and bypass Denver completely, especially if traffic is bad.

According to the website, it is run by a quasi-governmental authority, with 10 dudes on the board of directors. There are 3 from each county the road passes through, and 1 from the city of Aurora.

Free Shed Plans

Free Shed Plans

They are very thorough, step-by-step plans. One of the best things is they contain a material list, so that you know exactly what you need before you get started, and you don’t have to keep going back and forth to the hardware store.

The company that put those plans out has a lot of other great shed design ideas.

You can save a lot of money on the price of a shed by doing the work yourself. And, it’s a fun project–hard work, but fun.

I remember I built a shed with my dad when I was in college. It is a good memory, and the shed is still there and in good shape. A shed doesn’t have to be built to the same standard as a house of course, but even though it’s about 12 years old, it still looks nice and is very sturdy.

I’ve seen some sheds that were really nice. They complement the house and the yard, and are almost like a little gingerbread house in the back yard.

I hope you enjoy your project and the free shed plans.

2006 Chevy Trailblazer Review

We bought our 2006 Chevy Trailblazer used in February 2009. We purchased it because my wife was due with our first baby a few months later in May, and we needed something with four doors. I think we got a pretty good price on it. It had 60,000 miles on it, which as far as I’m concerned is almost like new. I had obtained a carfax report on it beforehand, and it came back clean. The dealer also provided a report that agreed with my report.

We had problems with this car almost from the beginning. Within a week of getting it home, we had to replace the battery. No big deal, but then, we had to replace the transmission and the air conditioner. I can’t remember exactly how much those cost now, but they were very expensive.

The service engine light is always going on and off, and the error code is nonsense, so we don’t worry about it anymore. The fuel gauge quit working, and it turns out that is pretty expensive to fix, so we just reset the trip every time we buy gas and drive for 250 miles before buying gas again.

The console between the seats is broken, and a lot of the plastic trim pieces inside the car keep falling off. It just seems to have been poorly built. My current plan is to drive it until it falls apart. I think it would be hard to get a decent price for it, because we’ve driven it quite a bit, and the inside just seems like it’s falling apart.

The good things about it is that it gets decent gas mileage for an SUV, and it drives nicely. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend buying it to anyone I even remotely liked or preferred not to make an enemy of.

Review of Auction.com

I haven’t quite closed on a house I’m buying through Auction.com. But it’s been about as difficult as they could have made it. Usually, when you buy a house with cash it’s a fairly simple process. They weren’t happy with my original proof of funds. They wanted me to send the earnest money by registered mail. They said I had to get the documents all signed, and a cashier’s check in the mail within 2 hours after the end of the auction. That’s not really realistic.

I managed to get everything they wanted, which wasn’t easy, though I certainly didn’t get it within 2 hours. The whole thing was frustrating because my winning bid didn’t even meet the reserve. So I did all that just in hopes that the bank would accept my offer. Thankfully, they did, and I’m happy with the deal I got, but the pain continued.

Shortly after hearing that my offer was accepted, the Auction.com dork sent an email asking if I’d like to close early. I told him that I’m not closing early, because the house was still occupied. He responded back mentioning that I still have to close even if it’s still occupied at the time of closing. I told him I was aware of that. He wrote back and told me I still have to close even if it’s still occupied at the time of closing. Sound repetitive? I didn’t bother writing back.

I went and talked to the person occupying the property asking what his plans were to move, and he wouldn’t discuss it with me. I called the Auction.com dork and asked him if the bank could provide information about their agreement with the occupant, and he said I still have to close even if it’s still occupied at the time of closing. At least this time I didn’t have to read it, I could just listen to it. Then, he said he doesn’t have any information about the occupancy status, and he probably couldn’t get the information, but he said I still have to close even if it’s still occupied at the time of closing.

Then, the title company calls me and asks me if I want to close a couple weeks early. I said I wasn’t interested in closing early, because the place is still occupied. At least she didn’t sing the old refrain. What she did say is that she’d call me back on February 1st, a few days later, to set up the closing.

Around February 7, I started thinking that maybe I need to get going on wiring the money in. But how much and to whom, and where do I go for closing? I called the title company, and they said no one in the auction department is picking up the phone, but I can leave a message. I did. No one called me back. I called the next day, and left another message.

Finally, today is the day. I have to send the wire today. But no one has called. I called and left another message, and another with someone else. Finally she calls me back and says that we’re going to have to close a day late. She’ll have numbers for me on Monday.

So hopefully, the pain train is nearing the station, and I can get off. We’ll see.
